- Senior Litigator
Jeffery has been exclusively dedicated to the practice of subrogation law since 1995. Jeffery pursues recoveries on large commercial and residential subrogation claims which stem from contractor or tradesman negligence, product defects, construction defects, breach of warranties, government liability and matters against utility companies. Most claims involve fire, smoke, and/or water damage as well as either alternative living expenses or business income loss.
After being assigned his first restaurant kitchen fire claim in 2011, Jeffery recognized the need to learn about various duties imposed on restaurant hood fire suppression system installers, restaurant hood fire suppression system maintenance contractors, hood cleaning contractors, and restaurant owners. Consequently, Jeffery attended a seminar offered by Phil Ackland & Associates titled Investigating Commercial Kitchen Fires that is commonly attended by fire marshalls, fire investigators, and restaurant kitchen trades people. By employing the knowledge gained during that seminar, Jeffery has created a track record of recovering generous settlements in excess of $1,000,000 for clients on restaurant kitchen fire claims.
In 2014, Jeffery completed an Interactive Training Program entitled MEDIATION The Art of Facilitating Settlement, which was offered by the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine University College of Law (Rated the No. 1 Mediation Program in the U.S) Jeffery has since successfully applied the information in mediations conducted in litigation cases and also with respect to pre-litigation claims.
Jeffery has distinguished himself while working at Nationwide's Trial Division, having recovered more money from 2010 - 2018 than any other Nationwide Trial Division Attorney. Before joining Nationwide in 2010, Jeffery was responsible for managing the high-volume California Automobile Subrogation Litigation Unit for Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO). During Jeffery's tenure at GEICO Staff Counsel, Jeffery ranked first nationally in GEICO Staff Counsel recoveries in 2009, 2008, 2007, 2004, and 2003, and second in 2006 and 2005.
